I invite you to go sightseeing with me in the Polish regions and/or cities of Podhale, Spis, Orava, Liptov, Zakopane, and Szczawnica, as well as the Slovak regions and/or cities of Poprad, Levoca, Kiezmark, Liptovsky Mikulas, and Banska Bystrica. Many of these cities are quite old – reaching as early as the Middle Ages. Elementary signs of human settlement in the area reach prehistoric times. Some locations are especially valuable and have been listed by UNESCO as world heritage sites. While all of these regions and cities are located close to the Tatra Mountains, each one remains unique in terms of history, architecture, and local personality. All of the listed regions/cities are visited by large numbers of tourists, but each maintains a certain local feeling that can be experienced by each and every new visitor.
